Department of English
The department of English was established in 1971 to enhance the interpretative and expressive skills of students in an intellectual environment. The department houses a well established library and a well equipped language laboratory. It has highly qualified staff and is headed by Dr. Priya D. Wanjari , Principal who is an eminent erudite and academician of Nagpur. Since its inception, the department has continuously expanded. Today it offers MA in English and is proud to have been recognized as Centre for higher learning and research in English. . The department has now become one of the most revered and recognized pillars of academic community within the discipline and also in the university.
The department arranges various competitions like essay, debate and elocution to improve proficiency in English. It also organizes many workshops related to personality development and various programmes to instill and inculcate core human values and to bolster self confidence.

The primary goal of the Department of Economics, started in 1971, is to promote a thorough understanding of the economic aspects of the country and various welfare schemes provided by state and central Government . 13/11/2024 – The Post Graduate Department of Chemistry of Santaji Mahavidyalaya, Nagpur organized the guest lecture for M.Sc. on 13 November 2024. The topic of the guest lecture was “Molecular designing through Chemsketch and ChemDraw software in 2D and 3D formats” which provides all students with a rich set of easy-to-use tools to create scientifically intelligent drawings of molecules, reactions, biological entities and pathways. Dr. Kapil Ganorkar and Dr. Vijay Sapner, Assistant Professor Shri Mathuradas Mohota College of Science, Nagpur, were the guest lecturers.

The department was introduced in 2003. With the relentless efforts of the faculty members, the department has shown an amazing progress. The department is enriched with a well equipped laboratory, various learning resources such as charts, slides, and models. To create a connection to plants and to make students responsible towards Mother Nature, the students of the department have set up a beautiful botanical garden in the college premises. To create awareness about the conservation of medicinal plants and herbal wealth frequent botanical excursions are also organized by the department.

Department of Zoology
The department was established in 2003 to help students gain an insight into animal life through a wide range of approaches. Students learn genetics, physiology, toxicology, epidemiology, biostatistics, environmental pollution, wild life conservation, besides the classical zoology. The department has highly qualified and research oriented staff members. It is equipped with a sophisticated laboratory.
Maintenance of biodiversity is crucial to our survival. In view of this, the department organizes lot of activities and arranges field trips.

Department of Computer Science
The department was established in the year 1997-98 with a vision of relevance in research and excellence in teaching and development in technology. It was first in the University to start a three year B.Com. (Computer Application) degree course in 1997-98. Later on MCM and PGDCCA were started in 2001-2002 followed by a three year BCA in 2002-2003. The department has a vibrant set of faculty including NET/SET qualified teachers and Ph. D holders. It is backed by a highly sophisticated laboratory with 24 hours internet facility with all the latest software. The department continuously upgrades the laboratory facilities to train the students with latest technology to enhance their employability.
