Department of English

The department of English was established in 1971 to enhance the interpretative and expressive skills of students in an intellectual environment. The department houses a well established library and a well equipped language laboratory. It has highly qualified staff and is headed by Dr. Priya D. Wanjari , Principal who is an eminent erudite and academician of Nagpur. Since its inception, the department has continuously expanded. Today it offers MA in English and is proud to have been recognized as Centre for higher learning and research in English. . The department has now become one of the most revered and recognized pillars of academic community within the discipline and also in the university.

The department arranges various competitions like essay, debate and elocution to improve proficiency in English. It also organizes many workshops related to personality development and various programmes to instill and inculcate core human values and to bolster self confidence.

The primary goal of the Department of Economics, started in 1971, is to promote a thorough understanding of the economic aspects of the country and various welfare schemes provided by state and central Government . By the end of graduation, the student progresses from the granular view of Indian economics to global perspective The dedicated faculty of the department intends to make the students employable in corporate and academic fields. The Department of Political Science was established in 1971 with an emphasis on imparting knowledge about the political systems of various countries.     Visit to Science Express

     Students visited various coaches of Science Express which had a thematic display of concepts like Bigbang, Nanocosmos, Building blocks of Life from Gene to organism, Architecture of Mind, World of senses, Sensors, from data to knowledge, Global challenges, Spaceship, Earth or home in the Cosmos and the Universe. Students interacted with subject expert in each coach.


     Two days hands on training workshop on Molecular biology Techniques in association with Himedia Laboratories, Mumbai was conducted for students of B.Sc.-V Semester. The Techniques covered under the workshop were-Plasmid DNA Isolation and Genomic DNA Isolation.

     Department of Microbiology conducted three days hands –on training workshop for the students of B.Sc.- III year of Botany and Microbiology on production of Azotobacter and Rhizobium Biofertilizers.

     On this occasion the activity of slogan making competition was organized for the students followed by slogans silent march. The theme of the competition was “Innovation Science for environment Protection” .

    The department was established in the year 1997-98 with a vision of relevance in research and excellence in teaching and development in technology. It was first in the University to start a three year B.Com. (Computer Application) degree course in 1997-98. Later on MCM and PGDCCA were started in 2001-2002 followed by a three year BCA in 2002-2003. The department has a vibrant set of faculty including NET/SET qualified teachers and Ph. D holders.
